Prayer: The Left Hand of God

Spirit of life and love, God of many names and faces, we open our hearts to the world through our worship this morning. At the beginning of this new year, we resolve to move ever and ever closer to making real the unity and love lifted up by our faith.

We resolve to take the first step toward reconciling a conflict with someone in our lives.

We resolve to speak out against racism or xenophobia at least once this year when we encounter it.

We resolve to take better care of our bodies, the sacred physicality with which we’ve been entrusted.

We resolve to take better care of the body of the earth, the sacred physicality that nurtures us all.

We resolve to stop and take a breath the next time we feel the urge to lash out at someone we love.

We resolve to start to eat plant-based meals more and more often.

We resolve to make time for play.

We resolve to give of our time and money to organizations we believe in.

We resolve to give more hugs and say, “I love you,” every chance we get. We resolve to forgive ourselves when we fall short of our resolutions, knowing that we are all evolving.

May this year be full of abundance and good health and growth and love for us all. [candles]

Benediction:

As we go out into the world today, may we refuse to be “realistic” and build a new reality instead. Go in peace, knowing that we are one and we are loved.
